A joint team of Assam Police and the Commissionerate Police on Thursday launched a raid at Subhadra Apartment in the Infocity area of Bhubaneswar to arrest a fugitive accused of multi-crore financial scams.
The accused, identified as Sameer Patnaik, is on the ‘most wanted’ list of Assam Police and has a pending court warrant against him.
Fugitive Linked To Major Fraud Cases
According to sources, Patnaik has been involved in scams and fraud-related crimes worth crores of rupees in Assam. He had slipped past the Assam police’s radar and was untraceable before being located in Bhubaneswar.
Notably, he had earlier been arrested by the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police but was released on bail a few days ago. Following his release, Assam Police obtained warrants and intensified their pursuit, acting on intelligence inputs that he was hiding in the Odisha capital.
