In a major blow to MP Anubhav Mohanty, the family court, Cuttack, on Friday quashed the divorce petition filed by the parliamentarian. The court also dismissed his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini’s petition seeking restitution of her conjugal rights.

The actor-turned-politician had filed a petition seeking a divorce from his wife Varsha Priyadarshini. On the other hand, his wife had filed a petition seeking restitution of her conjugal rights under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act. While hearing the matter, the family court in Cuttack dismissed both the petitions.

In this regard, Anubhav’s lawyer Lalitendu Mishra said, “The main thing is that the case, which had been delayed, has come to an end. The case that Anubhav Mohanty had been fighting since 2020 came to an end. The divorce petition we had filed has been dismissed. Her (Varsha) petition seeking restitution of her conjugal rights has also been dismissed. It means they can’t live together.”

“We will analyse the judgment thoroughly and will appeal in the High Court,” he added.

When asked, Anubhav said, “My lawyer knows the case from the beginning to the end. So we will do whatever he advises.”

In her immediate response, the actress took to her X handle and posted a portrait of Lord Jagannath and wrote, "Jay Jagannath. Truth always wins.”
