At a time when the triple train tragedy in Balasore district is still afresh in the minds of people, another goods train derailed near Ambadola area in Rayagada district on Saturday.
According to sources, four wagons derailed while the goods train was on its way to Vedanta plant in Lanjigarh from Ambadola in Kalahandi on a special route.
No casualties were reported in the mishap and train services remained unaffected as the accident took place on a special track, sources informed.
On being informed about the incident, concerned officials rushed to the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain under what circumstances the train got off the track.
Notably, Odisha witnessed one of the deadliest train accidents on June 2 involving the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, both of which were carrying over 2,500 passengers, and a goods train laden with iron ore at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore.
As many as 21 coaches were derailed and severely damaged in the accident, trapping hundreds of passengers.
The triple train crash claimed 291 lives and left over 1000 injured.
