The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday arrested two persons at Titilagarh in Bolangir for allegedly making and distributing counterfeit currency.
A substantial amount of fake notes, totalling Rs 50,000 all in Rs 500 denomination, has reportedly been seized from their possession.
Concerns Over Counterfeit Notes’ Circulation:
As per reports, the arrested suspects were manufacturing counterfeit notes of very high quality. Investigations are currently underway to trace the origin of the materials used in this forgery and to identify other potential buyers who may have acquired these counterfeit notes.
Meanwhile, the STF has expressed concerns that this operation might have connections leading to other states, suggesting a wider network of counterfeit currency production.
