Many passengers scheduled to board trains on the Chennai-Howrah route got stranded at Bhubaneswar railway station after several trains were cancelled and diverted in the wake of the tragic train mishap in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
As many as 39 trains have been cancelled, 26 others diverted while 11 others have been partially cancelled so far on the route.
As far as Bhubaneswar station is concerned, Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Superfast Express which was scheduled to depart at 8:15 am from Bhubaneswar was cancelled at the last moment stranding the passengers on the station.
A lot of passengers were seen scrambling for information about the cancellation or diversion of their respective trains.
“I have booked tickets for Secunderabad on Visakha Express. While there is no information about Visakha Express’ cancellation till now, I know the situation. Visakha Express might get cancelled at any moment too. If it is cancelled, I will be in trouble as I have an important work at Secunderabad tomorrow,” said a passenger at Bhubaneswar station.
Another passenger scheduled to board Vivek Express for Santragachhi from Bhubaneswar also expressed her displeasure over the cancellation of trains. Speaking to OTV she said, “We were booked on Vivek Express today. But with the cancellation of trains, I have to make alternative arrangements. I do not know if I can make it on time for my work at Santragachhi.”
Meanwhile, the East Coast Railway has set up help desks at all the stations including Bhubaneswar to aid the passengers.
