In a significant move to improve emergency healthcare accessibility, the Odisha government has announced plans to integrate ambulance services with the Odisha Yatri mobile app. Passengers will soon be able to book ambulances online through the app, much like existing auto and taxi services.

The initiative by the State Transport Department in collaboration with CRUT (Capital Region Urban Transport) aims to streamline emergency transport services across the state. 

Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena on Tuesday informed that the department will soon begin the process of onboarding private ambulance operators.

Speaking to the media, Jena said, “People can book an ambulance, both private and government, using the Odisha Yatri app. The price tariff will be fixed by the government.”

The government has taken responsibility for regulating the service and will soon finalise the fare structure for private ambulances.

Once implemented, both government and private ambulances will be available to the general public via the app. This digital platform will allow users to locate and book nearby ambulances during medical emergencies, ensuring faster response times.
