A nursing officer at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a female attendant inside the hospital premises. The accused, identified as Nanu Ram Choudhury, was taken into custody by Khandagiri Police following a complaint filed by the woman.
According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday night when the female attendant alleged that the nursing officer had behaved inappropriately with her while she was deployed at the orthopedics department of the hospital.
The nursing officer allegedly called her to the cabin and reportedly misbehaved with her. The matter escalated quickly after the woman brought the issue to the notice of hospital authorities and later filed a formal complaint, sources added.
However, with no action from the police and hospital authorities, the victim, along with her colleagues and all outsourcing staff, staged a protest in front of the main gate of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, seeking his arrest.
Responding to the agitation, police initiated a probe and arrested the nursing officer from his friend’s house. Following the arrest, the protesting staff have reportedly resumed their duties.
