Two primary school students in Nilgiri area of Balasore district could not appear in the Pathani Samanta Mathematics Scholarship Test (PMST) on Monday due to alleged fault in their admit cards.
The test was conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha across the State on Monday.
As per sources, the incident was reported from Govt High School, Nilagiri, which was one of the centres for the scholarship test.
Many students from different schools of Nilgiri block arrived at the govt high school to appear in the test.
However, Dibyajyoti Sing and Sayajit Behera, who study at Matiali Nodal High School, were prevented from sitting in the test after it was found that the centre was meant for the Stage II category of students.
Though the guardians of the two students approached the school authorities, it yielded no results.
“I have come to the school to appear in the scholarship test in the Stage I (Class 6 to 8) category. However, after reaching here I learnt that the centre is meant for Stage II (Class 9 to 12) aspirants. Therefore, I could not appear for the test,” aspirant Satyajit rued.
“The admit card was issued around a week back, but our teachers did not point out the error and it eventually deprived us of appearing in the scholarship test,” he added.
Under the Pathani Samanta Mathematics Scholarship scheme, Rs 200 is given to selected students of Class 6 to 8 under Stage I, Rs 300 per month under Stage II (Class 9) and Rs 500 per month under Stage III.
