Late Odia actor Mihir Das’ youngest son Aklant Das passed away on Tuesday night. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the past one month for liver-related ailment.
As per initial reports, the last rites of Aklant were performed at Sati Choura crematorium in Cuttack today.
Earlier, Aklant's father and actor Mihir Das had passed away while undergoing treatment at a private Hospital in Cuttack in January 2022. The actor was reportedly suffering from kidney ailments for the past few years. He was admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack and was on ventilator support.
“Aklant was undergoing treatment and was in ICU for the last five to six days. He was recovering but doctors informed us at around 9 pm yesterday that his condition deteriorated and later he passed away,” said a family friend.
According to family members, Aklant’s elder brother Alman was in Balugaon for a film shooting when he was informed about the tragic demise of the former. The last rites of Aklant were conducted at Sati Choura where his father and actor Mihir Das’ cremation was done last year.
“After his wife’s death, Mihir Das played the role of both father and mother to raise his children. Everybody had hoped that Aklant would recover and return back home. However, he passed away at a much early age,” said another relative.
