ACF Soumya death case: Police clueless about Bidyabharati's whereabouts after issuance of NBW

Police have returned empty-handed twice from Kaptipada Gouda village in Mayurbhanj district while going there to execute the NBW against Bidyabharati. Even the police did not find Bidyabharati at Betnoti office where she works.

Police are clueless about Bidyabharati Panda's whereabouts after Paralakhemundi SDJM court issued a non-bailable warrant against her and two others in connection with the death case of former Parlakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

Police have returned empty-handed twice from Kaptipada Gouda village in Mayurbhanj district while going there to execute the NBW against Bidyabharati. Even the police did not find Bidyabharati at Betnoti office where she works.

Apart from Bidyabharati, the court has issued non-bailable warrant against former Paralakhemundi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sangram Behera and cook Manmath Kumbha.

As per sources, the court has directed the trio to appear before it on July 7. Besides, the court has also quashed the plea to dismiss the case against them.

In another developmet, Orissa High Court on Tuesday stayed the non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by the lower court against Bidhyabharati  in connection with death of her husband.The court has  asked police not to execute the NBW. The next hearing  on the matted will be on July 27.

In June, Bidyabharati and Behera had moved the Orissa High Court challenging the SDJM court’s order asking the duo along with cook Manmath Kumbha to appear before the court.

Bidyabharati and Behera had made the Odisha government and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra’s father Abhiram respondents to their petitions.It is worthwhile to mention here that the Paralakhemundi SDJM court, while hearing the petition filed by the deceased ACF’s father Abhiram Mohapatra in April, had directed the trio to appear before the court. The court stated that their trial would be held pertaining to murder and criminal conspiracy charges against them.
