Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced that six lakh new farmers have been enrolled under the PM-KISAN scheme following the formation of the new state government. He emphasized that special attention has been given to include farmers who were previously left out of the central scheme.
Speaking at a PM-KISAN fund disbursement programme held in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister stated that efforts are underway to ensure the inclusion of both rural and urban farmers who have not yet benefited from the scheme.
“In today’s 20th installment under PM-KISAN, a total of 34.85 lakh farmers across Odisha have received the financial assistance, and we are committed to extending this support to every eligible farmer,” CM Majhi said.
He further informed that during the ongoing Kharif season, post the regime change, the state government has provided input subsidies worth Rs 6,000 crore to 17 lakh farmers.
Taking a swipe at the previous government, Majhi alleged that agriculture was neglected for 24 years, and the sector did not receive the priority it deserved. However, he assured that under the new administration, farmers would be empowered through schemes such as PM-KISAN and the Subhadra Yojana.
“Through these schemes, a farmer will now receive up to Rs 30,000 annually as government support, ensuring greater financial security and agricultural growth,” he added.
