As many as 32 retired employees of the Odisha government, who were reinstated as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and in additional duty in Puri Srimandir, have been relieved from their duties, informed Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhee on Saturday.
As per sources, Puri Srimandir had become a shelter for the retired officials of the Odisha government as many of them were reinstated Officers on Special Duty and in other posts over the last 10 years. They were playing important roles in many works of the temple and taking important decisions.
Even some retired officials are still reportedly looking after the conduct of various rituals of the Holy Trinity. SJTA has now taken steps to relieve the officials from their duties. As part of the process, 32 retired employees have been relieved. More than 15 more retired employees are still doing additional duties in Srimandir.
As per reports, the retired employees were relieved from their duties following several allegations from different quarters including the members of the temple management committee.
Now questions are being raised as to why the retired employees were reinstated instead of new appointments and grooming youths for specific duties.
