How long can you wait to meet your friend? There is a man in Odisha’s Salepur who is waiting for his friend for the past 31 years. However, Padmanabh Sahu’s friend is not alive. He has now turned crematorium his house just to meet and interact with his friend’s spirit.
Some might call Padmanabh mentally retarded, but his love for his friend is certainly unique as he is still optimistic of meeting him for which he is waiting at the crematorium.
As per reports, Padmanabh’s friend Pratap Kumar Singh alias Muna died in 1992. His last rites were performed at the crematorium at Saidagada in Salepur block of Cuttack district. Since that day, Padmanabh has been spending bulk of his time at the crematorium with a hope to meet with his friend’s ghost.
From eating to sleeping, the crematorium has now turned into a home for Padmanabh.
“He was my friend for which I am waiting for him. My family knows that I will not go anywhere and they will find me at crematorium,” said Padmanabh who has a family of his own including wife and children.
Villagers say that such friendship is unique as one person is still waiting for his friend’s return.
“Many of us fear to visit crematorium. But Padmanabh has been staying here most of the time. Such kind of friendship is rare to find in this materialistic world,” said Dipak Behera, a local resident. A
nother local resident said, "Both Padmanabh and his friend had close bonding and for which he is waiting for his return. It is strange that Padmanabh does not fear to stay alone at the crematorium. So far, he has not meet his friend’s ghost."
