At least two women devotees sustained injuries due to heavy rush during the darshan at Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Wednesday.

As per reports, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar was jam-packed due to the large gathering of devotees during Mahashivratri. The event experienced a momentary disruption as throngs of people created a brief jostling scenario near the main entrance, known as Singhadwara, leading to injuries for two female devotees.

Restoration of Order 

Police personnel swiftly intervened to restore order, ensuring that the religious proceedings continued smoothly. Khordha Collector Chanchal Rana informed that even amidst the large turnout, security measures were effectively implemented.

“All the rituals of Lord Lingaraj are conducted smoothly and on time,” said Rana.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Bhubaneswar is reportedly present at the spot to take stock of the security measures and crowd control.

Mahashivratri holds a place of great reverence in Hindu culture, symbolising the convergence of divine energies and is celebrated with fervour across India. Devotees engage in night-long vigils and special prayers to Lord Shiva.
