Two persons in Badibahal, Bolangir district were allegedly punished by a kangaroo court on cow killing charges. Led by Om Prakash Kumbhar, the incident has prompted a police probe.

As many as two persons were allegedly humiliated and punished harshly by a kangaroo court at Badibahal village in Bolangir district on the charges of killing a cow.

As per reports, some villagers of Badibahal took the law into their hands and made a trial of the two victims from Banipali village in a kangaroo court on behalf of Lakhe Ghar Ganda Samaj.

As per the decision in the kangaroo court, the two persons were allegedly tied on ropes on their necks and they were forced to move in a circle around the photograph of BR Amdekar. Some persons also allegedly sprinkle water on the victims to purify them. The victims also bowed down before some persons as an act of penance. The victims have also been ordered to pay some money as a penalty.

The video of the incident has reportedly gone viral over various social media platforms.

As per sources, the kangaroo court was allegedly held under the leadership of Om Prakash Kumbhar who was the MLA candidate of Congress for Loisingha constituency in the last General Elections.

It was found in the video that Kumbhar himself was sprinkling water on the victims in a bid to purify them.

Bolangir City policy has reportedly lodged a case in connection with the incident and started an investigation into it. It has been learnt that the shameful incident occurred on November 28.

However, no reactions from Lakhe Ghar Ganda Samaj could be obtained in this regard.
