President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday awarded two Odia scientists with the prestigious Vigyan Yuva – Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award at the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2024 award ceremony held at the Gantantra Mandap, Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Dr. Swarup Kumar Parida was conferred with the covetous award for his contribution to Agricultural Science while Dr. Digendranath Swain was felicitated by the President for his contribution to Space Science and Technology.
Dr. Swarup is currently engaged as a scientist at New Delhi-based National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) while Dr. Swain is the EXMD/STR at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, Thiruvananthapuram. He has made outstanding contributions in supporting structural qualification tests using DIC and other experimental techniques.
In the first edition of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, at least 33 awards were presented to distinguished scientists in four categories – Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva and Vigyan Team.
