17 prominent litterateurs honoured with 'Sarbabhasa Sahityakar Samman'

Among the literary figures feted on the occasion were Odia litterateur Baishnab Charan Mohanty, Bengali litterateur Dr Bidisha Sinha and Urdu litterateur from Uttar Pradesh, Nushrat Mehndi. Besides, litterateurs from Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra were honoured.

As many as 17 prominent litterateurs of different languages from across the country were honoured with the Sarbabhasa Sahityakar Samman at a three-day programme of the New Delhi-based Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, which was inaugurated by the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat at the SOA University in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Among the literary figures feted on the occasion were Odia litterateur Baishnab Charan Mohanty, Bengali litterateur Dr Bidisha Sinha and Urdu litterateur from Uttar Pradesh, Nushrat Mehndi. Besides, litterateurs from Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra were also honoured on the occasion.  

Deliberating on the occasion, the RSS chief observed, “Literature is not only meant for the educated people. Rather it is meant for all. If the term ‘Sahitya’ is anatomised, it means that who comes with all. It means flawless conduct.”

Sounding a philosophical note, Bhagwat said, “What comes with man? May say nothing comes with us. Man is born with fists bunched up and leaves the world with palms open. But what comes with him/her is karma. He/she has to suffer the results of their karma."

“All communities in the country believe in the consequence of the karma. But the cycle of the karma and its consequences keeps on moving around,” he added.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the occasion, Gujarati litterateur Bhagirathi Bramhavat, said, "I have written some books including Arya Sanskruti, Bharatiya Sanskruti, Manaviya Byabahar. In recognition of my literary works, I was honoured here. I am happy to be feted."
