Fire Mishap in Khordha
In a recent incident, a major mishap was narrowly avoided on August 12 when a 108 ambulance suddenly caught fire on the Ayatpur-Deogaon road under Nachuni police limits in Khordha district. Fortunately, all three staff members on board managed to escape unhurt.
Reports indicate that the driver had noticed a technical fault in the vehicle and stepped out to inspect it. Moments later, a short circuit triggered a fire inside the ambulance before any repairs could be attempted.
The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing the entire vehicle. The flames caused the battery, oxygen cylinders, and AC compressor to explode one after another, creating loud blasts that sparked panic among nearby villagers.
Eyewitnesses recounted that flames shot high into the air while thick smoke was visible from a distance. Locals rushed to the spot but kept a safe distance due to the repeated explosions.
Although fire service personnel reached the site to extinguish the flames, the ambulance had already been completely gutted by the time they arrived.
