The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha was all gung ho on Thursday after its State in-charge Sunil Bansal arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day visit.
Bansal’s visit assumes importance as he came to Bhubaneswar after attending BJP’s meeting in Guwahati which was held to discuss preparations and strategies for 12 eastern India states including Odisha for the 2024 general elections.
As per reports, Bansal discussed strategies to reach out to voters at the booth level with the Bistaraks. They will visit every home in each booth and make the voters aware of the failures of the current government led by CM Naveen Patnaik.
Friday, Bansal will hold discussions with the leaders of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies where it had to accept defeat in the last election. After that, he will speak to the MLAs about their ground situation and prepare a blueprint for the 2024 election.
“He (Bansal) will stay for two days in Odisha. As the 2024 election is nearing, he will discuss social, political, and organisational issues with party members,” said Odisha BJP Chief, Manmohan Samal.
Meanwhile, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has set out to strengthen its organisation in booths of Khordha and Bhubaneswar. As per reports, the conch party is paying special focus to 1,000 booths out of the 1,012 booths in Khordha district to checkmate MP Aparajita Sarangi.
A party workers’ meeting in this connection saw leaders sharing ideas to win maximum booths in the district. Moreover, the meeting is said to be an attempt to curb the infighting in the party.
“Today we all decided that we will take each and every welfare programme announced by the Chief Minister to every person in the district and make sure that Naveen Patnaik sits on the CM’s chair for the sixth time,” said BJD’s Khordha district president, Bibhuti Balabantaray.
Former MP Prasanna Patasani, who had also joined the BJD workshop said, “I am healthy enough to run for another term. However, I will not open my mouth on the party ticket issue; otherwise, I will get nothing.”
