Known for its temples, rich culture, flora and fauna, Odisha is a land full of wonders. The fascinating facts of its century-old temples can easily leave many stunned until they witness the unbelievable phenomenon.
Here we bring you a tale of such an unbelievable phenomenon where a hearth in a temple is burning for the last 50 years. But, surprisingly it does not produce any ash.
Located in Gadadharpur village under Tigiria block in Cuttack district, the Raghunath Jew temple has a divine earthen stove which is used to cook meals for hundreds of devotees. But to the surprise, it does not generate ash since the last 50 years.
“We make prasad for 500-1000 devotees daily by burning quintals of wooden logs in the earthen stove of the temple. But the hearth never produced ash. This is divine,” said Prafulla Mohapatra, chief servitor of the temple.
Sources said a major fire broke out in the village 50 years ago. The fire was so intense that it reduced several houses to ashes. Later, the locals decided build Lord Ram’s temple in the village and named it Raghunath Jew temple.
“After our village was hit by a major fire mishap, we built the temple. Since then, Lord Ram, Laxman, Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman are being worshipped in the temple,” said Dhaneswar Swain, president of the village committee.
Even people believe that their wishes come true if they worship the Lord with devotion.
