Taking a dig at the Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Odisha president Manmohan Samal on Monday said that the Odisha government is run by God’s grace and there is no rule of law.
Samal said this at a BJP rally held in Paradip on the occasion of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee’s 99th birth anniversary.
“Odisha has a corrupt rule. BJP has a responsibility to weed out the corrupt government from the State,” Samal said.
Equating Odisha’s rule with Kishore Kumar starrer classic ‘Chalti ka Naam Gaadi’, Samal said, “In fact, I cannot see a government here at all. The Chief Minister is invisible, Ministers are invisible, and even the MLAs are invisible. I cannot see any rule of law here. Odisha is running by God’s grace. It is like ‘Chalti ka naam gaadi'.”
“Had there been a rule of law, then Rs 350 crore cash would not have recovered from a liquor trader. Nor the Srimandir Ratna Bhandar key would have gone missing. The voters know better than any of us. They will take appropriate steps during elections next year,” Samal added.
Earlier in the day, Samal had asserted BJP is going to give a tough fight to the BJD in the next Assembly polls. As per Samal, the BJP has set a target to garner 51 percent vote share during the upcoming 2024 elections in all states.
According to Samal, the roadmap was finalised during the two-day meeting of the BJP national office-bearers in New Delhi recently. The state BJP president further informed that separate strategies have been formed for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Similarly, adequate focus was given on Odisha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister held discussions till late night during the meeting, he said.
