Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party on Thursday said there was a need for an 'alternate front' for people other than BJP and Congress-led coalition governments.

"BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin and there is no difference between the two...We feel the need for formation of an alternative front. People of India want an alternative to the BJP and Congress-led coalition governments in the country," JKNPP chairman Bhim Singh told reporters here.

He said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already initiated steps towards this direction.

Singh also accused the JK government of "deliberately demolishing" Dogri art, culture and democratic institutions in Jammu.

He claimed cultural sites in Jammu such as Abhinav Theatre, Poonch House and Mubarak Mandi among others were in depleted condition and no efforts were being taken by the state government to restore them.
