In a significant breakthrough in the fight against insurgency, three Naxalites were arrested along with a cache of explosives in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police officials confirmed on Monday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Podiyam Joga (25), Madvi Masa (25), and Pojja Madvi (29). They were apprehended on Sunday near Pentapad village in the Chintagufa area, a region known for frequent Naxal activities.

According to the police, the arrests were made during a joint anti-Naxal operation carried out by the 50th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with local police personnel stationed at the Dabbakonta security camp. Teams were deployed to the Pentapad and Entapad areas following intelligence inputs about the movement of Maoist militia members.

During the search, security forces recovered a tiffin bomb weighing around three kilograms, five detonators, five gelatin rods, four pencil cells, electric wires, and a detonating cord from their possession.

A senior police official stated that the arrested individuals were militia members of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and were allegedly involved in assisting senior cadres by planting explosives and carrying out subversive activities in the region.

The trio is currently being interrogated, and officials believe the arrests will help gather crucial information about Maoist networks and future plans in the area. Security forces continue to intensify their operations in Sukma to curb Maoist influence and ensure safety in vulnerable villages.
