'Take pledge to ensure safety and respect of women': President Murmu, PM Modi greet on Raksha Bandhan

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others greeted the country's citizens. 

As a mark of respect for the Kolkata rape and murder victim, President Murmu urged the people of the country to take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect of women.

“On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival, based on the feeling of love and mutual trust between brothers and sisters, instills a feeling of affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters. I want that on this festival day, all the countrymen take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect of women in our society,” tweeted President Murmu.

Taking to his official 'X' handle, VP Dhankhar wrote, "...On this auspicious occasion, let us commit to uphold the dignity and respect of women, fostering an enabling environment where they can thrive and fully realise their potential."

Similarly, PM Modi wrote, “Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, a festival symbolizing the immense love between brother and sister. May this holy festival bring new sweetness in the relationships of all of you and happiness, prosperity, and good fortune to everyone's life.”

Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Vice-President Baijayant Panda also extended best wishes on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima.

JP Nadda took to X and wrote, “I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all my countrymen on the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan, the unbreakable love and trust between brother and sister. I pray to God that this festival of our sacred culture may fill everyone's life with happiness, good fortune and prosperity.”

Greeting people on Rakhi Purnima, BJP VP and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Jay Panda wrote, "...May this festival, which represents the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters, bring happiness & prosperity to everyone’s lives."
