Senior journalist Ravish Kumar resigned from NDTV on Wednesday, as per an announcement made through an internal mail of the National news broadcaster.

This came a day after channel’s founder promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy resigned as directors of the board of RRPR Holding Private Limited.

RRPR, a promotor company of NDTV, on Wednesday transferred its holding of 29.18 per cent to Adani Group.

A part of the NDTV internal mail read, “Ravish has been an integral part of NDTV for decades; his contribution has been immense, and we know he will be hugely successful as he embarks on a new beginning”.

Ravish has been conferred with the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award and Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award twice. In September 2019, Kumar won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for ‘harnessing journalism to give voice to the voiceless’.

Ravish hosted a number of programs, including the channel’s flagship weekday show Hum Log, Ravish ki Report, Prime Time, and Desh Ki Baat.

The Ramon Magasaysay Foundation said that Kumar was being recognised for his unfaltering commitment to a professional, ethical journalism of the highest standards; his moral courage in standing up for truth, integrity, and independence; and his principled belief that it is in giving full and respectful voice to the voiceless, in speaking truth bravely yet soberly to power, that journalism fulfills its noblest aims to advance democracy.
