Rourkela: Attempting to click a selfie proved too costly for two youths at a reservoir in Kansbahal near the Steel City here on Sunday.
As per information, two youths were taking a selfie when they fell into the dam. Locals and other eyewitnesses informed about the incident to police and fire brigade.
Soon teams of fire-fighters reached the spot and initiated a search and rescue operation. After a thorough inspection of the dam water, the rescue team initially fished out one of the youths and later recovered the body of another.
The identity of one of the youths has not been established, while the other one has been identified as Moda Parida. Both were admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital for a check-up.
After medical examination, one of them was declared dead but the other one was fortunately alive. Doctors have said that the survivor was in critical condition and has been put under treatment.
Police have begun a process to identify the details of the duo for intimation to their families.
Kamal Gouda, Fire Official Rourkela said they received information about the drowning mishap at around 5 pm. Following which three teams from Rajgangpur, Rourkela and Panposh were pressed into service.
