SC to hear pleas against constitutional validity of CAA on Monday

A bench headed by Chief Justice U.U. Lalit and S. Ravindra Bhat is scheduled to hear the petitions on Monday. In December 2019, the apex court had declined to stay the operation of the law and issued a notice to the Centre on the petitions against the Act.

The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing on nearly 200 petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) on September 12.
