Ratan Naval Tata, one of the world's most influential industrialists, passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night. He was 86 when he breathed his last.

Despite being world's one of most influential industrialists, he never appeared on any list of billionaires. He controlled over 30 companies that operated in over 100 countries across six continents yet lived an unpretentious life.

Ratan Tata, a corporate titan, who is admired for his decency and integrity, chose to remain unmarried despite falling in love four times.

In an old interview, Ratan Tata revealed that he came very close to getting married on several occasions. However, they did not work out.

While many times he felt lonely for not having a wife or a family, there were times when he enjoyed the freedom of not having to worry about the feelings or get concerned about someone, Tata had confessed in the interview.

Ratan Tata lost her love for 1962 Indo-China conflict

Ratan Tata while working in the US had found his lady love and came very close to marrying her. However, the Indo-China conflict led to their separation.

"I came back to India and she was supposed to follow me. However, she did not come due to India-China conflict in 1962. Subsequently, she married to someone else in the US," Tata revealed in the old interview.

Moreover, Ratan Tata refused to tell more about the girl or even take her name stating that it would not be appropriate. It speaks volumes about the respect Tata had for women and the big heart he had. He even believed that love doesn't always mean getting someone.
