This operation was a direct and calculated response to the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26, including a Nepali national. The strikes aimed to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist organisations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), all of which have a history of orchestrating attacks against India.

Strategic Execution with Precision

Operation Sindoor was characterised by its precision and restraint. Conducted jointly by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, the operation utilised advanced surveillance and intelligence to ensure that the strikes were confined to terrorist infrastructures, deliberately avoiding civilian and Pakistani military targets, highlighting India's commitment to ethical military conduct, even while taking decisive action to protect its citizens.

Detailed Overview of the Nine Targeted Sites

The operation focused on the following nine terror facilities:

1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan

This facility serves as the operational headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Spanning approximately 6.5 acres, the complex includes a mosque, seminary, and residential areas. It has been linked to various terrorist activities, including the 2019 Pulwama attack. The Pakistani government has acknowledged its association with JeM in the past.

2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke, Sheikhupura District, Punjab, Pakistan

Established in 1988, Markaz Taiba is the primary training centre for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Located near Lahore, the 200-acre facility comprises a madrasa, hospital, market, residences, and agricultural land. It has been instrumental in training militants for operations in Kashmir and beyond.

4. Mehmoona Joya Facility, Sialkot District, Punjab, Pakistan

This Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) facility is situated near Kotli Bhutta Government Hospital in the Head Marala area. The Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been reported to facilitate such launch facilities along the International Border and Line of Control, often utilising government buildings to conceal terrorist infrastructure.

5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala, Bhimber District

Located on the outskirts of Barnala town, this LeT facility is used for the infiltration of terrorists and arms into the Poonch–Rajauri–Reasi sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Its proximity to the Line of Control makes it a strategic point for launching cross-border operations.

6. Markaz Saidna Hazrat Abbas Bin Abdul Mutalib (Markaz Abbas), Kotli

This JeM facility is located approximately 2 kilometres southeast of the Kotli Military Camp. It serves as a training and operational centre, playing a pivotal role in orchestrating terrorist activities in the region.

7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli District

One of the oldest HM facilities, Maskar Raheel Shahid is situated about 2.5 kilometres from Mahuli Puli on the Mirpur-Kotli road. The secluded camp comprises barracks, storage rooms for arms and ammunition, and residential quarters for terrorists.

8. Shawai Nallah Camp, Muzaffarabad

Shawai Nallah is one of the most significant LeT camps, dedicated to the recruitment, registration, and training of terrorists. The camp has been operational since the early 2000s and has trained several high-profile terrorists, including David Headley and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi .

9. Markaz Syedna Bilal, Pakistan

Specific information about this facility remains obscure, but intelligence sources have identified it as a critical node in the terrorist network.
