The mother of Abhaya expressed deep grief over Mamata Banerjee’s threatening remarks against doctors protesting for justice and said that the West Bengal Chief Minister could not understand her pain as she has no children of her own.

“I didn't like what she (Mamata Banerjee) said yesterday. The whole world stands by my daughter. They are protesting, agitating for justice. And she says we do not want justice,” Abhaya’s mother told ANI.

"I want them (protestors) to continue the movement until they get justice. The Chief Minister said the family does not want justice! Mamata has no son or daughter herself, so she cannot understand the pain of losing a child. We are very hurt by her comments,” ANI quoted her.

The Bengal CM allegedly told the protesting doctors that their career will be ruined if an FIR is filed against any of them.

Asking the protesting doctors to return to their duties, Mamata said, “I support the junior doctor’s agitation. They are protesting because their colleague has been raped and murdered. We will not take any action against you, but I appeal to you to join work.”

“If an FIR is filed against you, your future will be ruined. He or she won’t get a passport or visa,” she added.
