GSI survey found gold deposits in Odisha’s Deogarh: Union Minister in Parliament

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Pralhad Joshi on Monday informed that Adas block in Deogarh district of Odisha has presence of gold deposits.

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Joshi informed that the Geological Survey of India (GSI), during Field Season Programme (FSP) 2018-19 carried out ‘general exploration’ (G2) for base metal in Adas block. The survey revealed presence of gold as an associated metal, along with copper, said the Union Minister.

GSI has established an indicated resource of 0.90 MT at 0.97 ppm of ores of gold in Adas block. “The resource- bearing geological report has been handed over to the State Government of Odisha for auctioning. After auction of the block, the indicated resource may be upgraded to mineable reserve by successful bidders,” an official release read.

Recently, the Odisha Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik in the Assembly informed that Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh districts have gold deposits.

According to Mallik, Dimirimunda, Kushakala, Gotipur, and Gopur in Keonjhar district; Joshipur, Suriaguda, Ruansila, Dhushura hill in Mayurbhanj district and Adas area in Deogarh district have gold deposits.
