Several social messaging platforms have now become an inseparable part of our daily lives. From sharing emotions to seeking help in times of emergency, such platforms have certainly made our lives easy. WhatsApp is one such multiplatform messaging app that allows people to make video and voice calls, send text messages and a lot of other interesting tasks.
No doubt WhatsApp is one of the important tools through which people can stay in touch with family and other loved ones apart from sharing documents, pictures related to their profession. Meanwhile, a message which is circulating on social media claiming that the Government of India has released a new WhatsApp guideline to monitor chats created a flutter among the users.
The viral message also mentioned that action will be taken against people for forwarding messages. However, a fact check by PIB revealed that the message is ‘fake.’
In the PIB fact check, it has been categorically stated that the Government of India has not released such guidelines.
It is not for the first time that such fake message is doing rounds on social media. In 2021 also, a message claiming that two blue ticks on WhatsApp message, and one red tick means the government can take action against. Similarly, three red ticks will mean that the government has started court proceedings against you. It was then clarified that all such message is fake.
