August has ushered in good news for the government employees in Madhya Pradesh as the Dearness Allowance (DA) has been hiked.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government announced a hike in the Dearness Allowance in a video message shared on Twitter. A Dearness Allowance (DA) hike of 3 per cent for the state government employees has been announced and it will bring them on par with the Central government employees.

With this decision, the government employees will now be entitled to get 34% DA. Earlier the DA of MP government employees had been hiked by 11 per cent last time, taking it to 31 percent.

“At present our government servants of Madhya Pradesh get 31% dearness allowance. We had increased 11% together last time, but today we are deciding that now 34% dearness allowance will be given to the government servants of Madhya Pradesh.

The hiked DA will be implemented from current month (August) and therefore, the state government employees will receive it in September month's salary, he announced.

According to Chouhan, the DA hike decision would add around Rs 625 crore additional financial burden to the Madhya Pradesh government. It would benefit over seven crore state government employees, he added.
