Days after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) claimed to have achieved 100 percent vaccination against Covid-19, the serpentine queues at vaccination centres in the Capital city has heated up political blame game.
"People are yet to get Covid vaccine. Many are even leaving the vaccination centres without vaccine," alleged Kailash Chandra Rath, a resident of Bhubaneswar who was standing in a long queue for his second dose of vaccine.
Another resident of the Capital city, Kishore Nayak asked if the BMC has already achieved 100 per cent vaccination, why so many people are still standing in long queues. "When people are still not getting the vaccine, there's no point making such false propaganda," he said.

Now, coming back to the BMC data, the corporation claims that 9.7 lakh people have received the second dose by July 31. It means, 18.14 lakh doses of Covid vaccine have already been administered.
However, in a tweet, the same BMC claims to have administered 18,91,682 doses by August 3 (9 PM)- while 10,75,703 people have received the first dose, 8,15,979 beneficiaries have got the second dose.
It suggests that more than 2.6 lakh people are yet to take their second dose. So, if so many people are yet to receive the dose, how come Bhubaneswar becomes fully vaccinated, asked people.
Though the Additional Commissioner of BMC was approached for reaction on the matter, he avoided questions by saying that the Health Department of BMC will provide the details.
Babu Singh, BJP's Bhubaneswar district chief, said, "Nothing is more laughable than the BMC's claim of 100 per cent vaccination when people are still standing in queues at vaccination centres. This government has always topped in spreading lies."
It's unfortunate that the BMC is making such claims, said Congress leader Manoranjan Das adding that the BMC should refrain from making such statements and provide the actual figure.
