Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla, a distinguished officer of the Indian Air Force, has etched his name in history by becoming the second Indian astronaut to travel to space in over four decades, as part of the prestigious Axiom-4 space mission. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Shukla’s selection marks a monumental moment not only for the Indian Air Force but also for India’s growing footprint in global space exploration. A highly decorated test pilot and aerospace expert, he brings with him decades of experience in high-altitude missions, aircraft evaluation, and simulation training.
His inclusion in the Axiom Space mission — a commercial spaceflight initiative in collaboration with NASA and SpaceX — represents a new chapter in India’s space diplomacy and technological prowess.
