Dharmagada: A berserk sarpanch of Mukhiguda under Jayapatna police limits in a most chilling manner on Tuesday night first shot dead his own son and then fired at his daughter and died while being carried to the hospital. Sarpanch Tareni Mohapatra first fired at his three-year-old son Subham and seven-year-old daughter Sushree. While Subham died on the spot, Sushree sustained grave injuries and has been struggling for her life in the hospital. Tareni then shot at himself and died on the way to the hospital. The whereabouts of Tareni`s wife Gayatri was not known.
The Jayapatna police has recovered one pistol and used catridges from Tareni`s house. Tareni has left behind a suicidal norte and the police hoped that it would provide vital clues to crack the mystery behind the killings. The incident has naturally become the talk of the town.
