Mother tries to sell girl child

The woman, identified as Santoshi Bauri, allegedly tried to sell her baby Rani to one Keshab Sisha of Bimarangini village under Malkangiri police limits on Wednesday, they said.However, fearing police action, Sisha aproached the police to ascertain legal consequences of the act.

Police later intervened and prevented the woman from selling the girl child, they said.Police said the woman was married to one Sujit Roy of MV-14 in Malkangiri district about three years back. Roy, however, deserted her and the infant recently, they said.
