Lucknow: Faced with allegations of indiscipline among Samajwadi Party workers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to check misuse of the party flag by chalking out a model code for the party. There were allegations of indiscipline among Samajwadi Party workers following post-poll violence and ruckus at the oath-taking ceremony in Lucknow recently.

"The SP state president and Chief Minister has directed that a model code be worked out to check any misuse of party flag by enthusiastic workers", party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary told PTI. A code is being chalked out on who in the organisation could be allowed to use party flags on their vehicles, Chaudhary said.

A policy is being worked out to allow only the office bearers at the state and district level to use the party flags, he added. The state administration will also be asked to check misuse of party flags and those who do not follow the code might also face expulsion, he warned. The Party has also taken a serious view of the overflow of congratulatory hoardings that have come up all over the state soon after the formation of the new government, he said.

Akhilesh Yadav has asked the party workers to remove the hoardings in the state capital, Chaudhary added. The Chief Minister had expelled 12 party workers who had taken to the dais and created a ruckus after the swearing in ceremony on Friday.
