Hours after the family members of lady sub-inspector (SI) Swagatika staged a protest outside G.Udaygiri police station demanding justice over the death of the lady police officer, Kandhamal SP on Sunday said the Inspector In Charge (IIC) of the police station will be transferred to the district headquarters.
"A case has been registered against G.Udayagiri police station IIC Rebati Sabar. A DSP-rank officer will investigate the matter and necessary action will be taken based on the probe report," said Kandhamal SP.
Earlier, today, Swagatika’s family members braved the rain to take out a rally from Gandhi Square and sat on dharna in front of G. Udayagiri police station.
Narrating the ordeal, Swagatika’s mother cried foul play and said, “My daughter was not happy. She was under severe mental stress and used to cry a lot as she was subjected to harassment and torture by the IIC. She had informed me about it whenever she called me.”
Moreover, the SI's brother Manoranjan Behera said, “Swagatika had been complaining about the torture and harassment caused by the IIC. She used to cry as she was intentionally being harassed by the IIC who also used to verbally abuse her.”
