An unidentified transgender died after jumping off the ‘gumuta’ of Puri Srimandir on Sunday.
According to sources, the transgender sustained grievous injuries after she jumped from the gumuta of the 12th century shrine in the afternoon.
She was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital where doctor declared her brought dead, sources informed.
"She had a fracture on her skull and deep injuries on other parts of the body. The body has been sent for postmortem after she was declared dead," said Dr Chandra Sekhar Nag.
"We immediately rushed the injured to hospital where doctor declared her dead. A case has been registered at the police station. Her motive and on what circumstances she jumped from the gumuta is yet to be ascertained," informed Singhadwara Police Station IIC Gokula Ranjan Das.
