The ambulance could not reach his village due to unavailability of road. Finding no other option, Dehuri was carried on a cot for five kilometres and brought near the ambulance, source added.

Despite Odisha government's tall claims about advanced health care system and better road connectivity in interior pockets of the State, a critically ill patient reportedly died as ambulance could not reach him due to unavailability of motorable road. The incident has been reported from Badabil village under Nakatideula block in Sambalpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Biranchi Dehuri.
