At least three people were killed while another person critically wounded after being hit by a truck in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha late last night. 

The mishap occurred at Nuagaon Chhak of National Highway 49 under Bisoi police limits at around 12 am. 

As per reports, four cattle traders were standing along the road when the speeding truck lost balance and overturned on them. Upon being informed, personnel from Bisoi police station rushed to the spot and pulled out the four persons from under the truck. However, three of them had died while one was critically injured.

The injured was referred to Baripada hospital after preliminary treatment at Manada primary health centre. 

The deceased have been identified as Salman Hasdah and Susant Mahanta of Bangiriposi and Sukra Mahali of Jharpokharia. 

The driver and helper of the truck fled the spot after the mishap. The police have launched an investigation into the case.
