Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati on Friday targeted the state government over Srimandir Corridor project for the third time in a row.
Hitting hard at the government, he said “I am not against development. Ruining temples and mutts in the name of development is not reasonable. The government will take things seriously when common people lose their trust on it. Before that, it won’t realise the value of the common man.”
Puri seer further asked about the political party that can challenge the state government. “Heritage sites like Puri have turned into ‘bhogbhumi’ and ‘sura sundari’ kendra which should not have happened. Puri has lost its spiritual essence due to the state government’s lack of concern. This sort of government act also violates constitutional norms”, the Puri seer added.
Slamming the government over the GPR survey, Swami had earlier made comment that “Carrying out GPR survey in the middle of the night clearly indicates that the government was afraid of public. That’s why it was done in the night to keep it hidden from public glare.”
After GPR survey, the seer again launched a veiled attack on the government over the Srimandir Corridor project saying, it has been quite natural of the government to convert a ‘tapobhumi’ into ‘bhogbhumi’.
