Rituals at Lingaraj temple delayed as non-servitor intrudes into shrine’s kitchen

The ‘Sandhya Dhupa’ and ‘Badasinghara Besha’ rituals at Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar got delayed after a non-servitor allegedly trespassed into the ‘Roshaghara’(kitchen) of the shrine on Thursday evening.

According to sources, the non-servitor, who is said to be mentally retarded, entered the kitchen and desecrated the prasad.

Later, the ‘roshaghara’ was consecrated and fresh prasad was prepared causing delay in the rituals at the temple, sources informed, adding that, the intruder has been detained by the Lingaraj police.

Meanwhile, the Brahmin Nijog has expressed dissatisfaction over the matter and held poor security arrangement responsible for the lapse.

“The man enter the kitchen and ate the kothabhoga of Lord Lingaraj. The intruder has been handed over to the Lingaraj police. This has happened only due to breach in security arrangement,” Brahmin Nijog secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathi alleged.
