Renowned cartoonist Kishore Rath passed away on Sunday late night at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar due to cardiac attack. He was 58.
As per reports, Rath complained of severe chest pain late last night following which he was rushed to Capital Hospital. The doctors declared him dead after conducting an ECG.

Rath, a pioneer cartoonist in the state, was popular for his pocket cartoon ‘Katakhya' published in Odia daily 'Sambad'. He was well known for conveying messages and expressing public opinion immaculately through his cartoons.
Not just cartoons, Rath had a special interest and experience in 'Dhumpa sangita'. Dhumpa is a folk musical art form Ganjam and Nayagarh districts in which a bamboo percussion instrument is used.
A pall of gloom has descended on the Odia media fraternity after the sudden demise of the veteran cartoonist.
Condolences poured in from all quarters praying for the peace of the departed soul. CM Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief at the sad demise of Rath.
Similarly, BJP Vice President Baijayant Panda has also condoled Rath's demise. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also paid tributes to Rath.
