Two years back Pihu, a toddler of Madhusudanpur under Binjharpur police limits, had gone missing while playing outside her house. Even two years after the incident, Pihu’s whereabouts are yet to be traced.
Meanwhile, her mother Monalisa Nayak staged a sit-in outside the District Collectorate in Jajpur seeking justice. Monalisa has also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into Pihu missing case.
Though the state government and police had assured to find out the complainant’s daughter, both parties have failed to keep their words. She had written to the President of India through the District Collector seeking permission for euthanasia. Earlier, she had urged the government to initiate a CBI investigation into the matter. However, the government is yet to take it seriously.
Monalisa further accused the government of adopting a dillydallying approach towards the matter for which she would continue to stage protest.
It is pertinent to note that Pihu had gone missing on August 8, 2020 and a case was also filed in this connection. Though she staged protests several times and even approached the Orissa Human Rights Commission, it was of no use.
“I had petitioned the government to help find my missing minor daughter Pihu but the government is yet to do so. So my last hope is a CBI inquiry into the matter after all my appeals have fallen on deaf ears. Police have promised me to trace Pihu and they had formed a five-member team for it. But police are yet to trace whereabouts of Pihu. Government has also launched an abhiyan for tracing the missing children but it miserably failed to trace my daughter. I am not expecting justice from the government anymore” Monalisa stated.
