Petrol and diesel prices were on Sunday hiked for the fifth time in the last six days in Odisha. Petrol price has been increased by 53 paise and diesel by 59 paise per litre in Bhubaneswar.

While petrol in the Capital city will now cost Rs 105.93, diesel rate has gone up to Rs 95.72 per litre.

It has taken the total increase in the rate of petrol and diesel to Rs 4.15 and Rs 4.10 per litre respectively since the resumption of daily price revision less than a week back.

The regular increase in fuel prices has reinforced the disappointment and anger of the denizens at the current dispensation.

“Situation of inflation in Bhubaneswar and other parts of Odisha is really worrisome. The rich could afford the hike in the fuel prices which is pushing the price of other goods in the market. I used to travel 80 kms from my home to the office on a daily basis. I am feeling the pinch due to the petrol price rise. It has become difficult for the middle class to manage their family,” said another denizen.

Similarly, the price of petrol and diesel in Delhi today increased by 50 and 55 paise respectively, taking the prices to Rs 99.11 per litre and Rs 90.42 per litre respectively.

“There seems to be no stoppage to hike in the price for diesel and petrol. We are waking up to the news every morning. It has severely affected the middle class as the market has been hit by inflation. It has become difficult for us to keep a balance in our budget and make our ends meet,” said a person.
