Lakhman Sadhaba and his wife Sanjuta Sadhaba are running from pillar to post to arrange funds for the treatment of their 22-years-old Nirakara who is suffering from kidney ailment.
Nirakar’s parents, residents of Pathara village under Khallikote block in Ganjam district, are getting Rs 1,500 from Biju Swastya Card for dialysis which is not enough.
According to sources, Nirakar had gone to a neighbouring state to eke out a living. As he frequently fell ill, he came back to Odisha. After doctor’s consultation, his parents came to know that Nirakar was suffering from kidney ailment. Though Nirakar’s parents took him to several government and private hospitals for his treatment, but he is yet to be cured. They have spent Rs 13 lakh for their son’s treatment, but he is yet to show any sign of improvement. They have already sold all their gold and silver jewellery apart from house for the sake of their son’s treatment.
Currently, Nirakar undergoes dialysis three times a week. However, they are getting Rs 1,500 for the dialysis from Biju Swastya Card Yojana which is a meager amount for the treatment. Nirakar’s father is a fisherman. Now doctors who are treating Nirakar have asked his parents to arrange funds so that Nirakar can undergo kidney transplantation. As kidney transplantation requires lakhs of rupees, his parents have resorted to begging to save their son’s life.
“We have also sold our house. Nothing has left with us for our son’s treatment. Finding no other go, we are begging to raise funds,” said his mother.
“For last five months, I am not able to go to Chilika to catch fish due regular visit of hospital. We have spent Rs 13 lakh so far for Nirakar’s treatment and need more funds for his kidney transplantation. I would be grateful if the state government extends a helping hand and provides required funds for Nirakar’s treatment,” said his father.
A helpless Niarakar has requested for a kidney donation to save his life.
“Both of my kidneys are not functioning. I request for a kidney donation from a Samaritan to save my life,” he said.
