Over 60 chickens in a private poultry farm at Kandagaradi village in Balasore allegedly died due to loud music.
The owner of the farm has filed a police complaint alleging that the loud noise created by a local DJ led to the death of more than 60 chickens.
The chicken farm owner, Ranjit Parida has filed the complaint against the organiser of the DJ for playing loud music during a marriage procession which allegedly caused panic among the chickens and led to the death of as many as 63 chickens.
“There was a marriage in the village on Sunday night. During the wedding procession, the music played by the DJ was very loud. At around 11 pm, when the procession was halted near my chicken farm, the loud music caused panic among the birds,” said Ranjit while describing the incident.

Ranjit further claimed that though he urged the organisers not to play loud music, they didn't pay heed to his request and continued playing the music in high volume.
“The loud music killed 63 chickens in my farm; they died of heart attack caused by panic,” alleged Ranjit.
He had reportedly demanded compensation from the organisers, but when they denied, he approached the police.
“Noises increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in humans. When it comes to the chickens, heart attack in them following loud noises is quick and deadly too,” explained Bijaya Kumar Sarangi, a retired officer from the department of Animal Welfare.
He further said that the chicken could have died of heart attack due to the loud music.
