Barbil Police on Monday detained three brothers in connection with clashes at Sirajuddin Basti in the city on Sunday night in which one person lost his life while another was critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Narana Purty, a resident of Sirajuddin Basti while the injured person, Chandra Munda has been admitted to the Barbil Hospital for treatment. The health condition of Munda is stated to be stable now.
As per reports, Purty had gone near the house of the three brothers-- Chandra Gop, Akash Gop and Indra Gop-- in Sirajuddin Basti for some unknown reasons. Later, a heated argument ensued between Purty and the trio.
The situation became worse after the three brothers attacked Purty with sharp weapons leading to his death on the spot. Munda received injuries in the violent face-off.
A complaint was lodged by the family members of Purty at Barbil Police Station in connection with the incident.
“My husband had gone near the house when they were fighting over some matter. In the meantime, the three brothers attacked my husband with knives. There was no enmity between them,” said the wife of the deceased, Mamata Purty.
Barbil Police meanwhile detained the Gop brothers and interrogated them to ascertain the reason behind the violent clash.
